Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Cedric Moune scored a career-high 22 points to lead 11th-ranked Franklin & Marshall to an 83-65 victory over Swarthmore Wednesday evening in Centennial Conference men's basketball action. The Diplomats remain unbeaten this season and improved to 12-0, 5-0 CC while the Garnet dropped to 6-6, 2-3 CC.
With the game tied 14-14 midway through the first half, F&M went ahead for good with six unanswered points and took a 20-14 lead on a Moune layup at 7:27. The Garnet came within three, 22-19, before F&M countered with a 10-0 run for a 32-20 edge with just under a minute to play and went into the break with a 32-21 lead.
Moune paced the Diplomats in the first with 11 points, hitting 4-of-5 shots while Brandon Federici chipped in eight.
Morgan Lee and Matthew Tate netted three points apiece for a 6-0 F&M run to start out the second half and a Tate layup at 16:00 made it 45-26. The Garnet tallied eight straight to come within 11, but F&M quickly answered to go up 57-40 with 10:34 left to play. The Diplomats maintained a double-digit advantage the remainder of the game and led by as many as 22 points down the stretch.
Moune finished the game shooting 8-for-10 from the floor and grabbed eight boards. Federici ended with 16 points and Lee tallied 14. Tate went 3-for-4 from the field and netted 12 points to go along with four steals for the Diplomats.
Zack Yonda and Matt Brennan paced Swarthmore with 15 points each and Robbie Walsh added seven.
F&M outshot Swarthmore 56-49 percent and converted 19 turnovers into 26 points.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday when F&M hosts Washington at 3:00 p.m.
