Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel used two first half goals to pull away from Franklin & Marshall 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action. The Diplomats fell to 3-8-1 overall and 1-5 in conference play, while the Green Terror improved to 13-0 overall and 5-0 in the CC.
F&M faced offensive pressure from McDaniel from the opening whistle, leading to a Kirsten Gibson shot off the crossbar in the second minute. Minutes later the Green Terror took the lead when Gibson fed Nicole Hill to open the scoring and give McDaniel a 1-0 lead.
The offensive production continued for the Green Terror, attempting five more shots in the next eight minutes. The Diplomat defense tightened up and appeared to have turned the tide, until the first McDaniel shot in 26 minutes of play ricocheted off the post and in to push the Green Terror's advantage to 2-0 in the 42nd minute.
At halftime, McDaniel owned a 10-2 edge in shots, while neither team had earned a corner kick.
The Green Terror extended their lead in the 47th minute when Hill notched her second score of the match, this time on an assist from Christina Wroblewski.
The Diplomat defense held strong for the remainder of the half, but the score remained unchanged at 3-0 as the final whistle blew.
F&M goalkeeper Nicole Savidge recorded two saves in the effort. Kyra Judge and Courtney Overacker each recorded a shot to pace the Diplomat offense.
Conference play continues on Saturday when F&M returns to action by hosting Muhlenberg for a 1:00 p.m. matchup at Tylus Field.
