Box Score MECHANICSBURG, Pa. -- Lancaster Bible defeated No. 19 Franklin & Marshall 94-66 Saturday afternoon in the championship game of the Townes Place Suites Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Messiah. The loss if the first for F&M as the Diplomats dropped to 3-1 while the Chargers improved to 3-0.
LBC led from the start and jumped out to a 10-4 lead before F&M made it a three-point game, 13-10, on a Cedric Moune layup at 13:03. The Chargers answered with a 10-1 run to go up 23-11 and took advantage of multiple turnovers by the Diplomats to lead 38-22 at 3:51. F&M stayed close and outscored LBC 12-8 throughout the remaining minutes of the second to come within 12, 46-34, at the break.
F&M continued to turn the ball over in the second and the Chargers made the best of the opportunities by scoring 32 points off 27 turnovers. LBC maintained a double-digit advantage the remainder of the game and led by as may at 33 with 6:28 to play.
Moune led F&M with 12 points while Hunter Eggers and Brandon Federici both chipped in 10 for the Diplomats. Lionel Owona had seven points with six boards and Tate netted six. Moune and Federici were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Jordan Mellinger and Dondre Perry both finished with 17 for LBC, Bryce Williams had 16 and Kurt Keltner was the fourth Charger in double-figures with 11 points.
LBC outshot F&M 56-41 percent and held a 38-32 edge on the glass.
F&M returns to action on Tuesday when the Diplomats travel to Muhlenberg to kick off Centennial Conference action in Allentown at 8:00 p.m.
