Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Hunter Eggers scored a game-high 19 points to lead No. 20 Franklin & Marshall to a 75-50 victory over Washington in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action Saturday afternoon. F&M improved to 6-1, 3-0 CC while the Shoremen fell to 1-4 0-2 CC.
Glenn Robinson picked up career win 896 and is four victories away from becoming just the fourth coach to reach 900 NCAA wins.
The game was tightly contested in early minutes with Washington holding onto a 7-6 lead at 17:36 in the first before F&M went on an 11-0 run and took a 17-7 lead at 14:21. The Shoremen netted five straight to come within in five, 17-12, but F&M countered by outscoring Washington 21-2 over the next seven minutes and increased its lead to 44-20 at the break.
Hunter Eggers led all scorers at halftime with 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting while Cedric Moune chipped in eight points with six rebounds for the Diplomats.
F&M kept control throughout the second half and led by as many as 31 at 11:58 before Washington answered and came within 19, 61-42, at 8:11. The Diplomats countered with six straight and lead by at least 21 down the stretch.
Eggers shot 8-for-12 from the floor while Moune hit 5-of-9 shots to finish with 14 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Federici, Nicholas Stern and Matthew Tate both netted seven and Lionel Owona finished with six.
Pat Morgan and Joey Shelton both chipped in 10 and Kevin McCormick ended with nine for the Shoremen.
F&M held a 41-36 edge on the glass and outshot Washington 47-31 percent.
The Diplomats return to action next Wednesday when F&M travels to Albright.
