Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Brittney Jorgenson scored three goals to lead No. 1 Franklin & Marshall to an 11-4 victory over Lebanon Valley Thursday evening in women's lacrosse action. The win is the 10th straight over LVC for F&M as the Diplomats improved to 5-0 while the Dutchmen dropped to 2-4.
F&M took the early advantage when Gabby Frank found Grace Saliba at 22:48 in the first and five minutes later Saliba found Jorgenson for a 2-0 F&M edge. Saliba struck again at 12:12 and connected with Jorgensen at 8:37 to give the Diplomats a 4-0 lead. Tori Kuntz answered for the Dutchmen with two straight in the final two minutes of the half to make it 4-2 at the break.
The Diplomats went up 5-2 a little under two minutes into the second when Frank found Megan Kelly before the Dutchmen answered with two free position goals by Sam Boyce to bring LVC within a goal, 5-4, at 20:35.
F&M countered with six straight over the final 14 minutes of action to secure the win. Jorgenson started the run with her 100th career goal on a free position and Anastasia Mergner made it 7-4 with an unassisted tally at 13:12. Katie Groenke found twine at 9:10 and Casey Madden came alive in final three minutes with two scores while Mergner picked up her second in between Madden's goals.
Jorgenson finished with three scores while Mergner, Saliba and Madden all picked up a pair and both Kelly and Groenke ended with a goal. Frank and Saliba added two assists apiece for the Diplomats.
Peyton Annese and Emily Everdell both caused two turnovers and Caroline Doran along with Samantha Blicht finished with three ground balls. Mergner added a game-high four draws to her line.
Kaitlin Hardt picked up the win with two saves in 30 minutes of action and Danielle Harrington turned away three shots for F&M in the second half. Shelby Morris was under fire all afternoon and finished with 11 saves for LVC.
The Diplomats outshot LVC 37-13, went 14-for-17 on clears and came away with 10-of-16 clears.
F&M returns to action on Wednesday when the Diplomats take on Messiah at 9:30 a.m. in Clermont, Fla.
