Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – No. 3 Franklin & Marshall downed Ursinus 15-4 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action Wednesday evening. The Diplomats improved to 13-1 and remained unbeaten in CC play at 6-0 while the Bears fell to 4-10, 2-4 CC.
Paige Moriarty and Natalie Delinsky paced the offense with three goals each while Morairty added three helpers to her stat line. Gabby Frank netted two scores and Hannah Serling, Casey Madden, Siobhan Burke, Claire Jackson, Anastasia Mergner, Megan Kelly along with Brittney Jorgenson all finished with a goal for F&M. Katie Groenke, Vanessa Budd and Jorgenson each dished out an assist to help propel the Diplomats' offense.
Caroline Doran and Budd caused two turnovers each to pace the defense while Stephanie Speese, Serling and Delinsky all collected three ground balls. Kaitlin Hardt picked up the win as she allowed just one goal in 30 minutes of action and Danielle Harrington turned away four shots in the second half for the Diplomats.
F&M went on the board with first on a free position goal by Delinsky four minutes into the game. Ursinus tied the game at 1-1, 23 seconds later and the Diplomats answered with a 6-0 and took a 7-1 lead at the break. The Diplomats continued to dominate in the second by outscoring 8-3 in the final 30 minutes of action.
F&M outshot Ursinus 37-11, held a 15-11 edge in ground balls and forced 23 turnovers while going 15-for-17 in clear attempts.
F&M returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to Haverford for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
