Diplomats Prepare for Centennial Conference Tournament

LANCASTER, Pa. -- With Haverford's 15-12 victory over Muhlenberg Wednesday night, the Centennial Conference (CC) Women's Lacrosse Semifinals are set. F&M will take on Washington on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. after host Gettysburg faces off with Haverford at 1:00 p.m. The championship game will take place on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. with all three games taking place at Gettysburg's Clark Field.

F&M in The Tourney: F&M is making its 13th appearance in the CC Tournament since 2001. The Diplomats have a 16-8 mark with an 11-2 record in the semifinals. F&M has won five CC titles, 11 overall conference championships, with all five CC crowns occurring between 2007-2011.

WAC in the Tourney: Washington is making its eighth appearance in the CC Tournament with a 2-7 record. The Shorewomen are 0-6 in semifinal action and 0-1 in the championship game.

Potential Final: If Gettysburg and F&M meet in the CC Final it will be the 12th time the Bullets and Diplomats have played for the CC Crown. Gettysburg won five straight titles from 2002 to 2006 and the Diplomats matched that feat with five of their own from 2007-2011. The Bullets however, have won the last three championships.

Last Time we Met Washington: Gabby Frank scored six goals and handed out three assists to lead No. 1 Franklin & Marshall to a 19-9 victory over Washington on March 28th.

Paige Moriarty finished with two scores and five helpers while Emily Everdell and Brittney Jorgenson both finished with a hat trick. Paige Moriarty and Grace Saliba each netted two goals and Hannah Serling, Casey Madden along with Kimberly Abruzzo all struck once. Natalie Delinsky, Ryann Laible, Megan Kelly and Anastasia Mergner all ended with an assist.

Vanessa Budd paced the defense with four ground balls and three caused turnovers and Abruzzo caused two of her own. Natalie Delinsky had five ground balls and Mergner finished with five draws and three ground balls.

Danielle Harrington improved to 4-1 with four saves and Haylee Solomon took the loss with eight stops.

F&M outshot Washington 39-20, held a 27-16 advantage in ground balls and went 10-for-13 in clear attempts.
