Road to NCAA: The Diplomats finished the regular season with a 17-2 mark and were selected as one of four regional hosts in the tournament, which gave F&M home-field advantage until the Final Four. The Diplomats earned the right to host by winning the Centennial Conference (CC) Championship with an 8-6 victory over fourth-ranked Gettysburg.
F&M defeated Rhodes 21-3 in second round action last weekend, took down No. 9 Tufts 17-8 in the regional semifinals and punched its ticket to the Final Four with a 16-9 win over No. 17 Fredonia last Sunday.
In the Tournament: F&M is participating in its 17th NCAA Tournament, and ninth in the last 10 years. The Diplomats are 26-14 in NCAA playoff games and 15-1 at home in NCAA games since the start of the 2006 tournament.
The Diplomats have appeared in the final weekend on seven occasions, including four straight from 2007-2010. F&M has played in three title games and won two national championships (2007, 2009).
Sister Act: Franklin & Marshall junior, Anastasia Mergner, will be playing against her sister on Saturday afternoon. Mergner's sister, Georgia, is a midfielder for the Bantams. Both sisters played at James Caldwell High School in West Caldwell, N.J.
Pick Your Poisson: Five players have tallied 30 or more goals this season to power F&M's high-octane offense. The Diplomats 15.15 goals per game rank 20th nationwide and the number of different players who can score provides a difficult challenge for opponents.
Dish'n Out Helpers: F&M ranks fourth nationwide with a 9.05 assist per game average as the Diplomats have assisted on 199-of-333 (60 percent) goals this season. Paige Moriarty and Grace Saliba lead F&M with 44 and 42 helpers each.
It All Starts at the Draw: Anastasia Mergner has been dominant from the draw throughout her career. Last week she tied a school record with 11 draws against Tufts and enters the weekend just eight shy of tying the school mark of 234 set by Jen Pritchard '09.
Season Records: Several Diplomats enter the weekend with season statistics that rank in the top-15 in program history. Paige Moriarty's 84 points is 11th while Brittney Jorgenson's 59 tallies ranks 10th. Moriarty (44) and Grace Saliba (42) are third and sixth in the assist's category and Samantha Blicht's 27 caused turnovers places her sixth.
On the Career List: Samantha Blicht's 56 caused turnovers is seventh all time in F&M history, while Brittney Jorgenson and Emily Everdell both rank fifth with 10 game-winning goals. Grace Saliba has 83 assists in her career and sits in 11th, while Brittney Jorgenson's 146 points places her 12th.
