Series History: Franklin & Marshall visits Gettysburg on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. for the 117th meeting between the two schools. The Bullets hold a 112-104 advantage in the all-time series, but the Diplomats have been dominant since Centennial Conference (CC) play began, posting a 34-15 mark.
F&M returns home on Saturday, welcoming McDaniel for a 3:00 p.m. contest. The Diplomats hold a dominant 78-24 lead in the series, including a 35-10 edge in CC play and a 59-43 victory earlier this season on Jan. 7.
Outstanding In His Field: Three wins last week improved head coach Glenn Robinson's career win total to 903. He has now moved past Bob Knight (902), putting him alone in third place for career NCAA wins. He trails only Herb Magee of Philadelphia University and Duke's Mike Krzyzewski.
Help Us Celebrate: Franklin & Marshall College will recognize Coach Robinson after the home basketball game Saturday, Jan. 23, with a special presentation at center court honoring the coach's stellar accomplishment.
In the Rankings: Brandon Federici has climbed to the top of the CC scoring charts, ranking first with 17.3 points per game. Matt Knowles of Ursinus is second in the conference at 16.2, more than a point per game behind Federici.
Also representing the Diplomats on the list is Moune, who ranks seventh at 14.1 points per game.
Moune's dominance on the boards has placed him at the top of the CC in rebounds per game, with his 9.9 average putting him well clear of Ursinus' Remy Janicot in second (8.2).
Last Week: F&M opened last week by visiting Haverford on Tuesday night, emerging 87-56 winners.
Matthew Tate netted eight points in the first six minutes of action to lead the Diplomats to an early 12-2 lead. F&M increased its advantage to 44-22 at halftime, and never looked back en route to the road victory.
Federici shot 8-for-14 from the floor and finished with a game-high 19 points, while Tate had 14 points and Cedric Moune posted 12. Hunter Eggers (11) and Nicholas Stern (11) also reached double digits.
CC action continued on Thursday, when the Diplomats hosted Johns Hopkins, winning 63-60 to give Robinson his 902nd career victory.
Hunter Eggers put F&M up 58-54 with 3:41 left in the game, but the Blue Jays answered with five straight to take a 59-58 lead with 1:34 on the clock. The Diplomats responded with a Moune bucket and two free throws from Eggers to take a three-point lead with eight seconds left.
Johns Hopkins' Sam Gordon earned three foul shots with .4 seconds left, but missed the second and third attempts, allowing F&M to hold on for the win.
Federici finished with a game-high 20 points and Tate netted 14 to go along with six steals. Eggers scored 12 while Moune hauled in eight boards to along with 12 points.
The Diplomats closed out the week on Saturday, visiting Washington College and defeating the Shoremen 82-72 for Robinson's 903rd win.
A 12-0 run over the middle of the first half allowed F&M to take control, carrying a 43-34 edge into the halftime break. The Diplomats extended their lead to 18 early in the second, and Washington only came within single digits once as F&M cruised to the 82-72 victory.
Moune finished with a double-double, hauling in 10 boards and shooting 9-for-11 for 19 points. Federici also reached double figures with 19, while Eggers totaled 18 points and seven rebounds.
Last Time We Met Gettysburg: F&M and Gettysburg most recently met on Feb. 18 of last year, with the Bullets handing the Diplomats a 76-62 loss in Gettysburg.
A 9-0 Bullet run late in the first half gave the hosts a 14-point lead, which grew to 15 as Gettysburg took a 39-24 advantage into halftime.
F&M pulled within nine early in the second half, but the Bullets answered with a 12-6 run to return the deficit to 15. Gettysburg would lead by as much as 18, and F&M never got back within 10 as the Bullets held on to win.
Morgan Lee paced the Diplomats with 11 points, while Lionel Owona, Federici and Moune all tallied 10 points.
Last Time We Met McDaniel: F&M and McDaniel last clashed on Jan. 7, resulting in a 59-43 win for the Diplomats.
The Green Terror pulled within four late in the first half, but a 13-4 F&M burst gave the Diplomats a 33-20 lead at halftime. McDaniel scored the first four points of the second half, but another 13-4 F&M run extended the deficit to 18, a lead that the Green Terror were unable to seriously contest in the remaining minutes.
Federici paced the Diplomats with 13 points while Eggers, Owona, and Jordan Phelps all chipped in six points.
