Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall fell behind early, eventually dropping a 76-34 decision to Gettysburg on Wednesday night in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball. With the loss, the Diplomats fell to 4-12, 3-7 CC while the Bullets improved to 11-3, 5-3.
Anajha Burnett scored a fast break layup to tie the game at 2-2 with 7:35 left in the first, but Gettysburg used runs of 13-4 and 7-0 to extend a 22-6 lead after the opening quarter.
The difficulties continued for F&M in the second, as six points from Sarah Haddon did not stop the Bullets from taking a 44-12 lead at halftime.
Gettysburg shot a lights-out 50 percent (19-38) over the first two frames.
The Diplomats put together a 9-0 run early in the third, as Lindsey Powers and Haley Pilone each hit a triple on either side of a three-point play from Sarah Pisani. However, a 10-1 run from the Bullets put the game out of reach, opening up a 34-point lead after three en route to the victory.
Haddon led F&M with 11 points and eight rebounds, followed by Erica Brown with six points and six boards.
Emma Dorshimer paced Gettysburg with 17 points, while Emily Gibbons and Sara Graham joined her in double figures with 10 each. As a team, the Bullets finished the night with a 46.9 field goal percentage.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday, welcoming McDaniel for a 1:00 p.m. matchup.
