Series History: Franklin & Marshall hosts Gettysburg on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. for the 218th meeting between the two schools. The Bullets hold a 113-104 advantage in the all-time series, including a 73-57 win earlier this season. The Diplomats have been dominant since Centennial Conference (CC) play began, posting a 34-16 mark.
Dickinson and F&M will face off for the 181st time since the series began in 1905. The Diplomats have a 110-70 series edge, including a 35-11 mark in CC action. F&M escaped with a narrow 64-62 victory earlier this season.
Outstanding in His Field: Glenn Robinson improved his career win total to 909 with a victory on Tuesday. Earlier this season he moved past Bob Knight (902), putting him alone in third place for career NCAA wins. He trails only Herb Magee of Philadelphia University and Duke's Mike Krzyzewski.
Help Us Celebrate: Franklin & Marshall College will recognize Coach Robinson after the final home game of the regular season with a special presentation at center court honoring the coach's stellar accomplishment. The game against Dickinson on Saturday starts at 3:00 p.m. and the presentation will begin immediately after the contest.
Code Blue: A 'Code Blue' has been issued for this Saturday, Feb. 20 when the Diplomats take on Dickinson in Centennial Conference basketball action. Fans are asked to attend the games wearing blue shirts, and to aid in that request, F&M will be giving away blue t-shirts to the first 900 F&M fans.
Federici Earns Academic All-Region: Brandon Federici was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-District 4 Team for men's basketball announced on Thursday. To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
As an all-district selection, Federici advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where he has the opportunity to be honored as an Academic All-American later next month.
Playoffs: With a victory over Ursinus on Tuesday, F&M earned home-court advantage for the CC Playoffs for the sixth time in eight years.
In the Rankings: Brandon Federici has climbed to the top of the CC scoring charts, ranking first with 17.1 points per game and his 43.8-three-point percentage ranks second.
Also representing the Diplomats on the list is Moune, who ranks fourth at 15 points per game. Moune's dominance on the boards has placed him at the top of the CC in rebounds per game with his 9.3 average and he ranks third with a 57.4 field goal percentage.
Last Time We Met Gettysburg: Gettysburg ended No. 13 Franklin & Marshall's six-game winning streak with a 73-57 victory on Jan. 20.
Gettysburg jumped out to an early 6-0 edge and improved its lead to 17-7 at 12:11. Matthew Tate's triple at 9:02 made it a six-point game, 19-13, but the Bullets countered with an 11-2 run for a 30-15 lead. F&M responded with a 10-2 spurt to make it 32-25 before heading into the break trailing 34-25.
The Bullets went up 13, 45-32, four minutes in the second before Cedric Moune netted seven straight to lead F&M on a 15-5 run to bring the Diplomats within three, 50-47, with 11:07 remaining in the game. That was as close as F&M would get as Gettysburg went on a 13-1 run for a 15-point, 63-48, lead with a little over five minutes left to play and led by double-digits the remainder of the game.
Moune went 7-for-10 from floor to lead all scorers with 21 points. He added 10 boards to finish with his eighth double-double of the year. Hunter Eggers and Tate shot an identical 5-for-13 with 13 points each.
Last Time We Met Dickinson: No. 19 Franklin & Marshall edged Dickinson 64-62 earlier this season Jan. 27.
Moune put F&M up 40-35 three minutes into the second and a layup by Moune at 11:52 made it 45-40. Dickinson stayed close and tied the game at 47-47 and F&M quickly went back up five. The Red Devils tied the game again at 4:05 at 56-56 before a Federici three a minute later made it 61-56.
Dickinson made it a two-point game, 64-62, with just 1:27 left to play and had three chances to score in the final minutes, but Moune stepped and collected a defensive rebound and picked up two blocks in the 14 seconds.
Moune and Federici both finished with 18 points apiece. Moune added nine boards and four blocks and Federici finished with six rebounds. Levy netted seven and Matthew Tate dished out five assists and finished with four steals.
Three players scored in double-figures for the Red Devils. Brandon Angradi led the way with 17 while Ted Hinnenkamp added 15 and Mike Hinckley chipped in 10.
F&M outshot Dickinson 49-42-percent, forced 17 turnovers and were even on the glass with 30 boards each.
