F&M Falls to Dickinson in OT

LANCASTER, Pa. – No. 22 Franklin & Marshall dropped a thrilling 88-86 contest to Dickinson in overtime Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action. F&M dropped to 20-5, 15-3 CC with the loss while the Red Devils improved to 13-12, 12-6 CC. 

Seniors RaeVaughn Gardner-Williams, Terrel Phelps, Shawn Hines and Cedric Moune were all honored prior to the game in a senior-day ceremony. Following the game, a special presentation at center court took place honoring the Coach Glenn Robinson's career.

Trailing 72-68 with 2:33 remaining in the game F&M went on a 7-0 run and took a 75-72 edge on two foul shots from Hunter Eggers with just 22 ticks on the clock. Dickson answered to come within one and Matthew Tate hit the second of his two foul shots to make 76-74 with seven seconds left. The Red Devils inbounded the ball, called a time and hit a bucket with two seconds on the clock to send the game into overtime.

Two threes from Ted Hinnenkamp gave Dickinson a five-point, 82-77, lead early in the extra frame. Eggers brought F&M within one and a layup from Moune with 29 seconds left again brought the Diplomats within one at 84-83. Dickinson quickly went up five and secure the win with a foul shot with four seconds left before Eggers tallied the final points as time expired.

Tied at 10-10 five minutes into first half Dickinson went on an 11-3 run and took a 21-13 lead at 10:42. F&M slowly chipped away and came within four, 23-19, but the Red Devils countered with an 11-2 spurt to go up 13, 34-21, at 2:32. F&M countered by outscoring the Red Devils 7-1 during the final minutes of action and went into the break trailing 35-28.

F&M opened the second with a 7-2 run and made it a two-point game at 37-35. The Red Devils went back up seven at the midway mark before F&M went on a 9-2 spurt and tied the game at 57-57 on an Eggers' layup at 7:25 and a minute later Hines netted two points which gave F&M its first lead of the second half. The teams traded points over the next few minutes with Dickinson leading 72-68, setting up the final minutes of action.

Moune had three blocks and finished with a team-high 26 points and pulled down 10 boards for his 10th double-double of the year. Eggers netted 21 points with nine rebounds and three steals while Hines recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Brandon Federici shot 5-for-11 from the floor and ended with 15 points.

Brandon Angradi had a game-high 29 points for Dickinson and Hinnenkamp finished with 25.

F&M had a 45-32 edge on the glass, but Dickinson outshot the Diplomats 50-40-perecent and had 27 points from the bench to F&M's four.

F&M returns to action next Friday when the Diplomats hosts either McDaniel or Gettysburg in the semifinals of the CC Tournament.
