Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Four players reached double-figure as No.25 Franklin & Marshall knocked off Gettysburg 74-63 in the Centennial Conference (CC) Semifinals Friday evening at the Mayser Center. F&M will face Swarthmore, a 77-73 winner over Dickinson, at 7:00 p.m. for the CC Crown on Saturday evening.
F&M advances to its 14th CC Championship game since conference play began in 1994 and the Diplomats will look to win their eighth CC Crown, and 19th conference title overall.
Cedric Moune finished with a team-high 18 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and collected five steals to pick up his 11th double-double of the year. The senior is just seven points away from becoming the 34th player to reach the 1,000-point plateau in program history. Brandon Federici netted 16 and Hunter Eggers shot 5-for-8 for 15 points. Matthew Tate added 14 for the Diplomats, and Shawn Hines grabbed six boards.
The Bullets took a 7-0 lead early in the game and the Diplomats answered with a 7-2 spurt and tied the game at 9-9 five minutes in the first. Gettysburg went back up four before the F&M rattled off nine straight and took the lead for the good. The Diplomats outscored Gettysburg 21-6 over a 12-minute span and took an 11-point, 30-19, lead with two minutes left in the game. Gettysburg came within nine and Eggers drained a triple as time expired to give F&M a 33-21 lead at intermission.
Moune and Federici both had nine in the first and Eggers added seven for F&M.
Gettysburg came within nine in first few minutes of the second, but back-to-back treys from Tate and Eggers put the Diplomats up 13, 41-28, at 15:50. The Bullets battled back and came within nine, but the Diplomats went on an 8-2 run and took a 50-35 lead with 12:31 left in the game. F&M held a double-digit edge over the next nine minutes and a three from Eggers made it 68-52 at 3:07. Gettysburg slowly chipped away, but never came closer than nine points and the Diplomats hit 6-of-8 from the line to close the game out in the final minute of action.
F&M outshot Gettysburg 40-38-percent, held a 39-30 edge on the glass. The Diplomats turned 17 offensive rebounds into 25 second-chance points and converted 14 turnovers by the Bullets into 20 points.
Alex Kaslander led Gettysburg with 21; Kevin Gladstone had 17 and Cam Stewart finished with 11.
