Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Three goals apiece from Anastasia Mergner, Paige Moriarty, and Grace Saliba keyed a dominating 16-2 win for the No. 3 Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse team over Stevenson on Saturday afternoon at Tylus Field.
The win propelled the Diplomats to 3-0 on the year while the Mustangs fell to 0-3.
Mergner kicked off action in the opening minute with an unassisted tally to put the first points on the board for F&M. Five minutes later, Moriarty and Maddie Hughes followed with back-to-back solo scores, before Mergner tallied her second with 20:5 left for the 5-0 advantage.
Gabby Frank took a feed from Moriarty at 18:16 and Clare Jackson notched her fourth of the season at 17:01 to push the advantage to 7-0. Stevenson finally got on the board 30 seconds later, but another three goals from the Diplomats made it a 10-1 contest.
The Mustangs cut it to eight with a goal in the closing seconds of the half. F&M picked right back up where it left off before the break with three goals, including a pair from G. Saliba, in the opening 10 minutes of the final frame.
Katie Groenke (13:38), Siobhan Burke (9:32) and Natalie Delinsky (1:20) closed out the scoring en route to the 14-goal victory.
Moriarty paced the offense with three goals and a pair of assists while G. Saliba and Mergner both tallied three goals and an assist. The Diplomats' defense held the Mustangs to just eight total shots while causing 14 turnovers and collecting 12 groundballs in the game. Sarah Bozzo caused three turnovers, followed by Mergner with two.
Danielle Harrington (3-0) earned the win in goal, registering four saves in 50:11 minutes of action. Kaitlin Hardt entered the game with 9:49 remaining and didn't allow a score. Maggie Lawder (0-3) was charged with the loss for Stevenson after allowing 14 goals on 23 shots.
F&M continues action next Saturday, hosting Ithaca at 11:00 a.m.
