Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Grace Saliba finished with eight points to lead No. 4 Franklin & Marshall to a 16-5 victory over Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Tylus Field. The Diplomats improved to 15-1, 7-0 CC while the Fords fell to 8-6, 4-3 CC.
F&M jumped out to an early 8-0 lead 13 minutes into the game and continued to dominate every aspect of the game and took a 12-2 lead into the break. The Diplomats went up 15-2 early in the second and cruised to the victory.
Saliba had three goals on four shots and five assists to pace the offense while Paige Moriarty finished with three goals and reached the 100-goal mark in her career. Moriarty currently has 86 points and is now 21 points away from resetting the single-season mark.
Gabby Frank scored two goals and dished two assists and Katie Groenke scored on three of her four shots for the Diplomats. Claire Jackson, Anastasia Mergner, Natalie Delinsky, Caroline Kolva and Maddie Hughes all scored once and Hughes added an assist.
Jackson came away with four draws, Mergner had had three and Vanessa Budd finished with two. Samantha Blicht had two ground balls and one caused turnover to help lead the F&M defense.
Danielle Harrington picked up the win with two saves and improved to 12-0 and Megan Chenworth took the loss with six stops.
F&M outshot Haverford 29-10, held a 16-3 advantage in ground balls and went 14-for-14 in clear attempts.
The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday when F&M travels to Gettysburg for a 7:00 p.m. game. The winner of the contest will earn the right to host the 2016 CC Playoffs.
