Box Score YORK, Pa. – A goal from Reanna Leoni in the second-half proved to be enough to give Franklin & Marshall's women's soccer team a 1-0 win over York on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Diplomats evened their record to 2-2 on the year with the victory while the Spartans fell to 2-1 with their first loss of the season.
Scoreless in the 48th minute, Leoni sent a long shot from 25 yards out that found its home in the upper corner of the net to put F&M out in front by a 1-0 score. The goal was her team-leading third of the year. Kate Kerr earned an assist on the play.
York applied pressure throughout the remainder of the second, outshooting the Diplomats by a 6-2 margin, but was unable to draw even.
Shots favored the Spartans through the 90 minutes of action as the home team held a 15-3 edge. Corners were closer at 3-2 from York. Sarah Mischianti, Hannah Robertson, and Leoni recorded all of F&M's shots on the day.
Nicole Savidge was strong in net, earning her second career shutout after turning back seven attempts on goal. Her counterpart Brittany Cullison (2-1) took the loss after allowing one goal on two shots.
The Diplomats return to the field tomorrow, facing off against Kean in York. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
