No. 12 F&M Dominates on Senior Day

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 12 field hockey team defeated Bryn Mawr 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at Tylus Field.

The Diplomats improved to 12-2 and remained undefeated in CC play at 9-0 while Bryn Mawr dropped to 6-8, 0-8 CC.

Before the game, F&M honored its six-member senior class of Sydney Cole, Jill DeStefano, Ashley Gubernick, Annie Horsley, Paige Notarianni, and Sarah Schannauer

Cole started the scoring off for the Diplomats, controlling a pass from Horsley and finding the back of the cage in the 11th minute to bring the score to 1-0.

Less than two minutes later, Horsley scored off a penalty stroke to extend the lead 2-0.

Emily Nagle tallied the next goal following a penalty stroke in the 34th minute, deflecting a pass from Nicole Bodo past the Owls' 'keeper.

Nagle recorded her second goal of the day early in the second half, tipping a pass from Horsley into the back of the cage to bring the score to 4-0.

Erin Coverdale was next on the day, taking a pass from Cole and shooting into the corner of the goal to extend the Diplomats' lead in the 51st minute.

Following a good defensive stop, Lily Mynott took control on a fast break and found Katie O'Loughlin on the far side of the field who put the ball away to extend the lead 6-0 in the 58th minute.

Mynott tallied the final goal of the day two minutes later taking the rebound off a missed shot and sliding it past the goalie to bring the final score to 7-0.  

Goalkeeper Ilianna Santangelo was awarded the win to bring her record to 12-2. Owls' 'keeper Angela Meng tallied 14 saves during the loss with her record now 6-9.  

F&M outshot Bryn Mawr 38-0 and owned the penalty corner advantage 23-0.

The Diplomats return to action on Tuesday, hosting York for their annual Breast Cancer Awareness game, slated to start at 7:00 p.m.
