BALTIMORE, Md. – Franklin & Marshall's women's soccer team wrapped up its regular season on Saturday with a hard-fought 2-0 loss on the road to No. 10 Johns Hopkins.
The Centennial Conference (CC) defeat dropped the Diplomats to 6-9-1, 2-7-1 CC while the Blue Jays continue into the CC Tournament as the No. 1 seed with a 15-2-1, 10-0 CC record.
Neither team's offense set the tone in the early going before the Blue Jays' attack notched a 19th-minute strike that rolled off the F&M 'keeper and into the net for the 1-0 lead.
F&M's offense applied pressure with a pair of shots on goal in the opening half and held the Blue Jays to just four shots overall through the first 45 minutes of action.
However, Johns Hopkins came out of the break with an early score, going ahead 2-0 in the 48th off a shot into the right-side of the net.
Sabrina Graziano forced a late save by the Blue Jays' goalkeeper in the 88th minute but the Diplomats were unable to get on the scoreboard.
Gabby Panayotakis (6-9-1) turned back one shot in 90 minutes, while Bess Kitzmiller (10-2-1) earned the win with a two-save effort.
F&M's defense was strong throughout, limiting the Blue Jays to just five shots on goal. Overall, the shot count favored Johns Hopkins by a 9-5 margin along with corners at 1-0.
Reanna Leoni, Kyra Judge, Isabella Raspa, Nicolette Runko and Graziano were each credited with a shot on the afternoon.
