F&M Wins Two in Florida Double Header

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. -- Franklin & Marshall picked up two victories on its spring break trip on Wednesday. The Diplomats took down Fredonia State 18-2 in their morning game, before taking down Western Connecticut State by an identical 18-2 margin in the nightcap to improve to 4-1. 

The first game was never in doubt as F&M jumped out to a 10-0 lead. Fredonia put their only points on the board with back-to-back free position goals and the Diplomats closed out the half with three straight. It was all F&M in the second as the Diplomats scored five unanswered and kept Fredonia scoreless the entire 30 minutes. 

Natalie Delinsky and Katie Groenke both scored three goals while Grace Norley and Maddie Hughes both finished with a pair of goals. Hannah Serling, Caroline Kolva, Ryann Laible, Danielle Wilson and Bridget O'Donnell all struck once. Paige Moriarty netted two scores and handed out two assists, Eileen Cuneo had a score and two helpers and Vanessa Budd recorded an assist. 

Groenke had a team-high two caused turnovers while Maggie Hanzsche, Taylor Freud and Hughes caused one each. 

Danielle Harrington improved to 3-1 with four saves in the opening half and Julia Nelson came in and started the second, picking up one save and keeping Fredonia off the board.

Shots were 26-7 in favor of F&M, draws went 15-7 to the Diplomats and F&M went 9-for-10 on clear attempts. 

F&M jumped out to a 2-0 lead three minutes into the game before West. Conn. struck at 26:19. F&M answered with four straight and went up 6-2. After another goal by the Colonials, the Diplomats went on a 6-0 run to end the half and took a 12-2 lead at the break. F&M dominated once again in the second half, keeping WCSU off the board while tallying six goals. 

Moriarty had three goals and three assists, Judge had three scores with one assist and Gabby Frank scored twice and handed out three helpers. Serling, Delisinky, Hughes and Cuneo all had a score and an assist. Norley scored twice while Caroline Kolva, Yen Baker and O'Donnell each scored once. Hanzsche added an assist. 

Harrington improved to 4-1 with one save. 

F&M outshot WCSU 27-6 and went 9-for-9 on clear attempts. 

F&M has 10 days off and will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 25 when the Diplomats travel to Swarthmore before hosting Salisbury on Sunday.
