LANCASTER, Pa. – No. 4 Franklin & Marshall defeated No. 10 Salisbury 8-4 in women's lacrosse action Sunday afternoon. The win is the sixth straight as the Diplomats improved to 6-1 while Salisbury dropped to 7-3.

Danielle Harrington stepped up through the game and set an early tone with two saves in the first three minutes. Katie Groenke put F&M up 1-0 when she buried a pass from Maddie Hughes at 22:37. F&M took a 2-0 lead when Hughes finished off a pass from Gabby Frank at 11:17 before Frank assisted Hannah Serling a little more than a minute later to make it 3-0. Melissa Judge found Hughes at 8:46 to make it 4-0, which stood as the halftime score.

Salisbury answered in the second with two early goals in the opening seven minutes of the second to come within two, 4-2. Hughes picked up the hat trick with a score a 21:35, before Salisbury found the net at 17:41 to come within two goals, 5-3. Paige Moriarty found twine at 14:12 to put the Diplomats up 6-3 and Salisbury countered on their next possession on a free position goal. F&M finished strong with two unanswered goals to secure the win. Judge scored the first followed by Grace Norley.

Hughes ended with three goals and one helper while Judge, Moriarty, Groenke, Serling and Norley all ended with a score. Frank had two assists and Judge recorded an assist as well.

Judge came away with four draws and Vanessa Budd picked up with two for F&M.

Harrington turned away 10 stops and improved to 6-1, while Gianna Falcone took the loss with four stops.

F&M returns to action on Wednesday when the Diplomats face No. 1 Middlebury at 7:00 p.m.
