LANCASTER, Pa. – Grace Maggiore's triple-double led Franklin & Marshall to a 3-1 (25-16, 19-25, 25-21, 25-23) victory over Lebanon Valley to kick off the two-day Scramble Quad on Friday evening.

The Diplomats improved to a 4-1 record on the year while the Dutchmen evened out at 3-3.  

The Diplomats were slow out of the gate as the Dutchmen quickly got a 5-1 lead in the first set. A kill from Maggiore led F&M on a 5-0 run that gave them the lead at 8-6. The Diplomats maintained the pace, and sparked by a Delaney Hahn kill, went on a 4-0 run to increase their lead 24-15. Maggiore delivered the final blow with a kill to finish the frame.

F&M kept the pace in the second set and went on a 5-0 run with Hahn behind the service line to take the lead 7-4. The game remained close throughout before the Dutchmen finished the set with 4-0 run to end the game 25-19.

The third set started with back-and-forth rallies, but a service error from the Dutchmen gave the Diplomats the momentum to go on a 5-1 run to regain the lead at 9-7. F&M continued on small runs throughout the game until Christine Yoo delivered the final blow with a service ace.  

Early in the fourth frame, a Cassie Garison kill started the Diplomats on a 4-0 run to extend the lead 6-3. A late surge from the Dutchmen led them on a 6-1 run to tie the game at 23-23 and threatened to take the match into a fifth set. A kill from Garison and an error by LVC ended the match with a 25-23 victory in favor of the Diplomats.

Freshman setter Maggiore dominated the day with a triple-double, recording 37 assists, 12 kills, and 11 digs. Freshman outside hitter Hahn followed with a double-double, tallying 14 digs and 11 kills. Garison 10 kills while Grace Polisano notched eight. Gabby Mavroidis helped paced the defense with 13 digs, while Casey Morrow was credited with blocking assists. 

The Diplomats return to action tomorrow morning hosting Penn St.-Altoona and York College at 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
