LEWISTON, Maine – Franklin & Marshall's No. 29 ranked women's squash team earned its first victory of the season, avenging a 5-4 loss to No. 24 Bates early Saturday afternoon with an 8-1 clobbering of No. 22 Colby in the evening. 

The split on the New England road trip provided the Diplomats with their first win on the year, moving their record to 1-12 overall. 

By the Numbers (Bates) 

Four matchups against Bates went past three games, including Grace Smith's 3-2 victory at No. 7. Sherilyn Yang swept her opponent at No. 1, along with Liana Zranchev at the No. 8 position. However, Bates was strong at the top of the ladder, earning four wins in the top six positions.

By the Numbers (Colby) 

F&M rolled against Colby with six sweeps on the day, three of which occurred at the No.'s 1-3 spots in the order. Zranchev staved off a comeback bid at the No. 7 position. After going ahead by a 2-0 tally, Colby's Sophie Langlois secured the next two games to tie the contest before Zranchev pulled out an 11-6 victory in the fifth and deciding frame. 

The win over Colby was the fifth straight for the Diplomats in the all-time series, a streak that dates back to the 2009-10 season.
