LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-21) contest to No. 6 Juniata on Friday evening in the Mayser Center.

The loss puts the Diplomats at 14-5 on the year while the Eagles improved to 13-3. 

Juniata took a quick 8-3 lead to start the match, but F&M responded with a 3-0 run that included a service ace from Carly Ostrowski to come within two. A kill from Amy Mullen sparked the Diplomats on a 4-0 run that culminated in an ace from Grace Maggiore to bring the score to 12-11. Juniata was able to keep a slight edge to finish the set 25-20.

A kill from Casey Morrow tied the second frame at 4-4, followed by a service ace from Grace Polisano to give F&M its first lead of the night. A Barbara Kapustin kill ended a 5-0 run, which gave the Eagles back the lead, to bring the score to 9-6. Back-to-back kills from Nicole Carey and Mullen looked to ignite F&M, but Juniata kept the momentum to take the second set.

Mullen delivered the Diplomats' first points of the final set with a kill and notched two more from behind the line to even the game at 3-3. A block from Carey gave F&M a 5-4 advantage and propelled the Diplomats on a 5-1 run to keep the lead. The Eagles tallied seven straight points to take back the momentum and were finally stopped by a kill from Polisano. A kill from Morrow kept the deficit at two, but Juniata kept its foot on the gas to take the set 25-21. 

Carey and Mullen paced the offense with five kills apiece, followed by Polisano and Morrow with four. Maggiore tallied 21 assists, five digs, and one service ace while Ostrowski notched 16 digs and three aces. 

The Diplomats return to action tomorrow, hosting Ursinus and Marywood for a tri-match slated to begin at 12:00 p.m.
