Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – No. 7 Franklin & Marshall's women's lacrosse team dropped to No. 3 Washington & Lee by an 8-4 score on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats dropped to 1-1 while the Generals garnered their first win at 1-2.
Megan Jackson got the scoring going for F&M with a goal at the 24:03 mark off the dish from Paige Moriarty. W&L responded with two quick goals, but Katie Groenke evened the score with 11:13 left in the first half. The Generals tacked on two more goals to hold a 4-2 advantage at the break.
W&L came out strong in the second half with two goals to extend the lead to four. Moriarty found Jackson again to bring the score to 6-3 with 23:13 left. W&L's Cordelia Peters netted two goals in three minutes to expand the 8-3 edge, but Groenke got the final score at the 7:07 mark.
Danielle Harrington took the loss with four saves on the day while Hannah Wiltshire delivered 13 saves for the win.
The Diplomats outshot the Generals 25-17 and went 19-for-20 on clear attempts.
F&M returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 28, traveling to York (Pa.) for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
