Trailing 10-6, with 23:15 left in the game, F&M stepped up and closed out the game with a 6-1 run to steal the win. Maddie Hughes buried a pass from Jane Cote to start off the run and Clare Monaghan struck unassisted at 11:01 to bring F&M within two, 10-8. Monaghan found Moriarty a minute later to bring F&M within a goal, but the Jumbos matched two minutes and went up 11-9 with 7:26 left to play.

Cote kicked off another three-goal run when she found Julian Lisovicz at 6:13 and Katie Groenke's free position goal at 4:30 tied the game at 11-11. Cote put the game-winner through when she finished off a pass from Monaghan. The Diplomats won the ensuing draw and were able to run the clock down to 10 seconds and the Jumbos were unable to get off a shot as time expired.

The Diplomats looked to be in control early as F&M took a 2-0 lead five minutes into the game. Tufts answered with two of their own and tied the game at 2-2, but F&M countered with another pair for a 4-2 edge at 22:46. The Jumbos came within one, 4-3, at 21:49, before Caroline Kolva struck twice four minutes apart to put F&M ahead 6-4 with 16:25 left in the first. Tufts countered with a 7-0 run that spanned into the second half and held a 10-6 lead with 22:13 left in the game, which set up F&M's game-winning run.

Jane Cote paced the offense with one goal and five assists while Paige Moriarty, Caroline Kolva and Megan Jackson both struck twice. Clare Monaghan had a goal and two assists, Hannah Serling had a score and a helper with Juliann Lisovicz, Maddie Hughes and Katie Groenke all finishing with a goal.
