LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's push for a Centennial Conference (CC) Playoff spot continued on Saturday, with a dominant 3-0 blanking of Bryn Mawr in women's soccer competition on Tylus Field.
The Diplomats, who won their fourth-straight CC tilt, improved to 9-5-1, 5-4 CC while the Owls dropped to 5-9, 0-8 CC.
With the win, F&M moved into sole possession of fifth place in the standings with 15 points. Haverford (17 points) and Gettysburg (13 points) are set to compete at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night.
Before the game, F&M honored its four-member senior class of Gabby Goodwin, Hannah Robertson, Nicolette Runko, and Sam Springer.
Emilee Adami got the scoring started in the 24th minute of the first half for the 1-0 F&M lead, securing an Emily Cleary cross and knocking in a shot with a left-footed strike for her second of the season.
The Diplomats were unable to add on for the remainder of the stanza but F&M's defense held the Owls to just one shot on goal in the frame while tallying eight of its own through 45 minutes of play.
In the 55th, Meg O'Callahan helped the Diplomats tack onto the lead when Runko rolled a short pass in the box that O'Callahan blasted over the Bryn Mawr goalkeeper's head for the 2-0 edge.
Just eight minutes passed until F&M struck again. Runko got in on the scoring, notching her ninth of the season with a header in the box. Cleary set up the play with a well-placed cross from the near side that hit a cutting Runko for the 3-0 advantage.
Goalkeeper Sara Ghorashi (7-5) stopped all four shots she faced in 75 minutes of play. Tara Hessenthaler entered the net for the final 16:45 minutes of action.
F&M outshot Bryn Mawr by a 17-7 margin and led in corners at 5-0.
Runko led the offense with four shots, followed by Adami with three.
The Diplomats conclude non-conference competition on Tuesday, heading to Eastern for a 3:00 p.m. competition.
