SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's soccer team battled one of the Centennial Conference's (CC) best, but ultimately came up short in a narrow 1-0 loss to Swarthmore on Saturday afternoon.

The road defeat dropped the Diplomats to 5-4-1, 1-3 CC while the Garnet, who received votes in the latest national top-25 poll, improved to 8-3, 3-2 CC.

Goalkeeper Sara Ghorashi (3-3) kept F&M in the contest throughout with a career-high 17 saves through 90 minutes of competition. Ten of those saves came in the first half.

Eventually, Swarthmore broke through the scoreless contest and notched the game's first tally in the 69th minute. Elenore Moser lined up for a free-kick opportunity and lofted a ball that was headed in by Sophia Stills for the eventual game-winner.

F&M had a chance to force overtime in the final seconds, but Meg O'Callahan's attempt missed wide of the post.

The overall shot count favored the Garnet by a 24-7 margin, while corners were even at 4-4. Nicolette Runko and O'Callahan paced the offensive effort with two shots each.

The Diplomats aim to get back in the win column on Tuesday, hosting McDaniel for a 4:00 p.m. matchup at Tylus Field.
