No. 8 Diplomats Blank Catholic

MANHEIM, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 8 field hockey team maintained staunch defensive play as the Diplomats took a 2-0 shutout victory over Catholic Wednesday night in non-conference action.

F&M improved to 10-1, 4-0 CC while the Cardinals fell to 5-7.

The game went scoreless through the first three quarters of play. Lily Mynott broke the scoreless tie in the 47th minute, flicking the ball over the keeper on a fast break.

Mynott found the back of the cage again in the 51st minute for an insurance score. Addie Peters inserted a penalty corner, finding Erin Coverdale at the top of the circle where Coverdale blasted the ball past all defenders where Mynott tipped the ball in for her 16th goal of the season.

Christina Seery (10-1) picked up her sixth shutout of the season as F&M surrendered just four shot attempts to the Cardinals.

The Diplomats were able to get themselves extra opportunities to score, picking up four penalty corner attempts over Catholic's one.

F&M returns to action on Saturday, when the Diplomats travel to No. 11 Ursinus for Centennial Conference showdown in Collegeville at 12:00 p.m.
