Diplomats Dominate Misericordia for CC-MAC Bowl Title

DALLAS, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall picked up its third consecutive MAC-CC Bowl Title with a convincing 31-13 win over Misericordia Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats end the year with a 7-4 mark, while the Cougars fall to 5-5.

Junior quarterback Garrett Perschy was named the Most Valuable Player at the conclusion of the game.

First Quarter (F&M - 14 | MC – 7)

F&M wasted little time scoring as Garrett Perschy connected with Tim Walter for an 80-yard score on the Diplomats' first possession of the game. The Diplomats tacked on seven more on their second series when Perschy connected with Brendan Deering for a 12-yard score that capped off a 10-play, 52-yard drive. The Cougars answered on the next drive with a six-play scoring drive which made it 14-7 at the break.

Second Quarter (F&M - 17 | MC – 7)

Scoring slowed in the third as the F&M defense held Misericordia to three separate three-and-out series. F&M tacked on three when Murray McCarthy connected on a 23-yard field goal to put F&M up 17-7 at the break.

Third Quarter (F&M - 24 | MC – 7)

The Diplomats started the second half with an 11-play, 75-yard drive that was capped off when Keshon Farmer scored on a six-yard touchdown run. F&M's defense continued to dominate, holding the Cougars to just seven total yards in the third as F&M took a 24-7 lead into the final frame. 

Fourth Quarter (F&M - 31 | MC – 13)

A 44-yard pass to Mack Focht got things started in the fourth and Kevin Lammers scored on a 22-yard reverse to put F&M up 31-7 just 53 seconds into fourth. Misericordia managed a score midway through the quarter for the 31-13 final.

Final Numbers

Garrett Perschy completed 9-of-15 passes for 211 yards and two scores. Tim Walter hauled in two catches for 93 yards and a score, while Brendan Dearing finished with 33 yards on two catches with a touchdown.

Keshon Farmer racked up 96 yards on 19 rushes with one touchdown, Joe Hartley-Vittoria ended with 63 yards on 16 touches and Keven Lammers scored a 22-yard run.

Murray McCarthy connected on all four PATs and added a 23-yard field, Garrett Perschy had one punt land inside the 20 with a 34.5 average and Jack Rodenberger averaged 49.5 per kickoff with one touchback.

Seb Silva-Muniz ended with eight tackles (8a) and was in on half a sack, Matt Hamby had five stops (3s) with two sacks and Marlen Fenstermacher ended with five stops (3s). Kell Hall (4s), Dominic Bertone (4a), Peter Orio (4a) and Peyton Snopek (3a) all recorded three or more stops for the Diplomats.
