LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's basketball team notched a decisive 65-41 victory over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon.
The Diplomats improved to 12-11, 9-9 CC while the Owls dropped to 1-22, 0-18 CC.
Before the game, F&M honored its four-member senior class of AnnMarie DiCarlo, Haley Pilone, Sarah Pisani, and Lindsey Powers.
Bryn Mawr recorded the first bucket of the game, but F&M responded with three-straight threes from Pilone and Pisani to take a 9-2 lead at the 7:14 mark. Sparked by a layup from Kristin Hamill, the Diplomats tallied a short 6-0 run to extend the lead to 15-4 just under the five-minute mark. F&M kept the pace, taking a 23-12 advantage at the end of the first.
Maia Lockhart got in on the action behind the arc, knocking down a three for the first points of the second and starting F&M on an 8-0 to take a 31-12 lead with 5:50 left in the half. Emily Moran put away two free throws to bring the Diplomats' lead to 35-18 at the break.
F&M kept the momentum as Kenna Williams converted on the and-one less than a minute into the third quarter. Powers kept the offense moving with a layup two minutes later while back-to-back threes from Pilone and Moran increased the lead to 48-27 with a minute left in the quarter.
Pilone tallied the first eight points of the fourth quarter for the Diplomats to extend the deficit to 23 with 4:27 left. Hamill ended the game with five more points to secure F&M's 65-41 victory.
Pilone led all scorers with 25 points, going 7-for-10 from behind the arc. Hamill followed with 13 points and brought down nine boards.
F&M hosts Johns Hopkins on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the Mayser Center.
