ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – Six unanswered goals to open action helped No. 2 Franklin & Marshall's women's lacrosse to a 14-12 win against No. 14 Bowdoin in non-conference action on Wednesday morning.

The win improved the Diplomats to 5-1 on the year, continuing a five-game winning streak while the loss put the Polar Bears at 1-2.

Megan Jackson got F&M on the board just 32 seconds into action with an unassisted goal. The Diplomats kept the pressure, firing off five more goals in four minutes from Marissa McGarrey, Maisie O'Shea, Maddie Hughes, Jackson, and Caroline Kolva to take a 6-0 lead at the 18:50 mark.

The Polar Bears broke through, getting on the board with just over 18 minutes left in the half. The teams traded off goals with Tabitha Rodriguez and Nancy Taylor registering scores to help F&M to a 10-4 advantage at the break.

O'Shea kept the momentum going in the second half, scoring a man-down goal at the 25:32 mark. Bowdoin threatened, going on a 7-1 run over 16 minutes of action to come within one, but Hughes came up with the free position goal with just over six minutes remaining, giving F&M a two-goal cushion. 

O'Shea and Hughes led with three scores while Kolva, Rodriguez, and Jackson each netted two.

Maggie Hanzsche cemented the defense with four caused turnovers with Anya Chopoorian, O'Shea, and Erin Phillips registering two each. 

Julia McKay (5-1) earned the win after turning away eight shots while Erin Morrissey (1-2) took the loss.

The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday, March 20, traveling to No. 16 Catholic for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
