Second Half Surge Propels Diplomats Past Green Terror

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall outscored McDaniel 28-7 in second to erase a 10-6 halftime deficit and defeated the Green Terror 34-17 in Centennial Conference (CC) football action Saturday afternoon at Shadek Stadium. The Diplomats improved to 3-0, 2-0 CC, while the Green Terror fell to 2-1, 1-1 CC.

First Quarter (F&M 3 | McD 0)
Both defenses stepped up in the first quarter as neither offense was able to put together a substantial drive. The Diplomats made the best of a Kevin Lammers 22-yard punt return with a 5-play, 21-yard drive that ended with a Jack Rodenberger 29-yard field goal for a 3-0 F&M lead.

Second Quarter (F&M 6 | McD 10)
McDaniel went ahead 7-3 with an early score in the second and converted an interception into three more for a 10-3 lead with 3:19 left in the second. F&M answered with a 9-play, 41-yard drive and came within four, 10-6, after a 37-yard field goal by Rodenberger.

Third Quarter (F&M 20 | McD 10)
The Diplomats went ahead for good on their second series in the third quarter. F&M took over on the McDaniel 42 and had a major third-down pick on 3rd-and-18 by Keshon Farmer. Garrett Perschy connected with Tim Walter for a 10-yard score to cap off a 9-play, 45-yard drive for a 13-10 F&M lead.

F&M tacked on seven more on its next drive when Perschy found Joe Hartley-Vittoria for a three-yard score and 20-10 lead at the end of the third.

Fourth Quarter (F&M 34 | McD 17)
Hartley-Vittoria made it 27-10 early in the fourth when he raced in for 50-yards out on F&M's first drive of the final frame. The Diplomats went ahead 34-10 on their next series as Farmer did all the damage on F&M's 6-play, 24-yard drive that was set by Kevin Lammers 20-yard punt return. McDaniel managed one more score in the final minutes for the 34-17 final.

Final Numbers
Keshon Farmer and Joe Hartley-Vittoria combined for 201 rushing yards and two touchdowns to pace the offense. Farmer picked up all 103 yards in the second half with one score on 22 carries and Vittoria ran 11 times for 98 yards and a score.

He added one more touchdown on a 3-yard scoring reception. Mack Focht led the receivers with 40 yards on three grabs and Kevin Lammers caught three passes for 37 yards.

Garrett Perschy completed 15-of-26 passes for 127 yards and two scores.

Jack Rodenberger averaged 58.5 yards on eight kickoffs with one touchback and connected on 29 and 37-yard field goals.
Isaiah Chery led the defense with six solo stops, while Marlen Fenstermacher (4s, 2a) and Seb Silva-Muniz (2s, 4a) also ended with six tackles. Peyton Snopek had two tackles for a loss, including a sack and Jake Perloski ended with sack.
