HAVERFORD, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's basketball team fell to Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) play on Wednesday night, 75-51. The Diplomats fell to 5-11, 3-8 CC while the Fords improved to 12-3, 9-1 CC.
Kristin Hamill kicked off the game's scoring with a jumper on the opening possession. The Fords answered with 11 unanswered points as part of a 15-2 run to take a 15-4 lead at the 1:52 mark. F&M picked up one more basket on an Alisyn Narracci layup, but ultimately trailed 17-6 after one period.
Haverford maintained its pace with a 10-3 run to open the second quarter to take a 27-9 advantage at 6:34. A jumper from Maia Lockhart marked F&M's lone field goal over the stretch. A bucket from Kenna Williams ignited a 15-8 Diplomat run over the next five minutes to close the gap to 35-24 before the Fords responded with six unanswered points. The Diplomats trailed 41-24 entering the break.
F&M came out of halftime strong, claiming an 8-6 run to open the frame. After Haverford had a run to go up 54-34, the Diplomats bounced-back again to outscore the Fords 6-4 to close out the quarter, 58-40.
The Fords closed out the game by outperforming the Diplomats, 17-11, in the final stanza. Seven different players recorded points for Haverford in the fourth as F&M ultimately fell 75-51.
Hamill picked up 12 points to pace the Diplomat offense. Haverford's Anna-Sophia Capizzi and Julianna Clark recorded 28 and 19 points, respectively, as the game's two leading scorers.
Sarosha Parsons chipped in with eight points, seven boards, and three steals for F&M. Williams grabbed eight total rebounds, including five on the offensive glass.
The Fords out-shot the Diplomats overall, 52%-32%, and from behind-the-arc, 60%-31%.
F&M returns to play on Saturday when the Diplomats make their way to Collegeville to play Ursinus in CC action at 1:00 p.m.
