Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – A second-quarter drought ultimately sunk Franklin & Marshall's women's basketball team in Centennial Conference (CC) action against Gettysburg on Wednesday night, 71-53.

The Diplomats fell to 6-12, 4-9 CC while the Bullets improved to 17-1, 13-0 CC.

F&M owned the early upper hand after Kristin Hamill knocked down back-to-back jumpers and Sarosha Parsons splashed a three-pointer to take a 7-2 lead at 7:43. The Bullets responded with nine unanswered points over the next three minutes, taking an 11-7 advantage.  Two more jumpers from Hamill knotted the score at 11 points apiece before Gettysburg wrapped up the frame on a 6-2 run to make the score 17-13 entering the second quarter.

Hamill converted another jump shot to open the second stanza, closing the deficit to two points. That was the closest that the score got the rest of the way, however, as Gettysburg clicked for an 18-2 run through the end of the half. A Parsons layup at 4:08 marked the only other points scored by F&M in the period, carrying a 35-17 spread into the break.

The Diplomats opened the second half with a 6-0 run in the first minute that cut the discrepancy to 12 points, 35-23. F&M and Gettysburg traded baskets as the Bullets ultimately edged the Diplomats 12-10 over the final seven minutes of the third. The Bullets took a 47-33 advantage into the final frame.

That pace continued in the fourth as Gettysburg ultimately outscored F&M 24-20 in the period. F&M was able to cut the deficit to 12 after Alisyn Narracci opened the quarter with a layup, but the difference never became smaller than that as Gettysburg closed out the game on an 11-6 run over the final three minutes. The Bullets ultimately took a 71-53 win, though the Diplomats never allowed the deficit to increase beyond 20 points.

Parsons led F&M with 16 points. Hamill scored 15 points while picking up six rebounds.

Kenna Williams corralled 15 rebounds, including 12 on the offensive glass. The Diplomats out-rebounded Gettysburg 46-40 overall and 23-9 on the offensive boards.

Meg Navarro picked up four points, three boards, and two steals in 18 bench minutes.

Gettysburg's Ashley Gehrin led all scorers with 21 points, also picking up 10 boards dor a double-double. Mackenzie Tinner tallied five blocks along with six points and five rebounds off the bench.

F&M returns to CC play on Saturday, hosting Washinton in Lancaster at 1:00 p.m.
