Series History

The Diplomats face York for the 10th time on Wednesday. F&M owns an 8-1 mark, but three of the last four meetings were decided by one goal. F&M has a 4-0 series advantage against Mary Washington.

Anya Chopoorian was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Week for women's lacrosse, announced by the league office on Tuesday. The honor was the first of Chopoorian's career.

Chopoorian helped key the No. 7 F&M defense in its season-opening 9-8 win over No. 8 W&L on Saturday in Lancaster. The junior defender was credited with three of the team's eight caused turnovers, while also leading the Diplomats in ground balls with five.

Last Time We Met York

Ally Marino scored just 39 seconds into overtime to give No. 10 Franklin & Marshall an 11-10 victory over No. 5 York last season.

Megan Jackson paced the offense with a career-high five goals and one assist. Ally Marino followed with four scores while Jane Cote dished out three assists. Maddie Hughes had a score and an assist, Caroline Kolva struck once and Juliann Lisovicz had one helper.

Maggie Hanzsche caused five turnovers and Anya Chopoorian picked up three groundballs.

Julia McKay (1-1) earned the win, turning away eight shots while York's Abby Smith (2-1) took the loss after 13 saves.

Last Time We Met Mary Washington

A hat trick from Ally Marino that included two goals in the final three and a half minutes lifted No. 4 Franklin & Marshall over No. 2 Mary Washington by a 6-4 tally in women's lacrosse action last season on March 6.

F&M's defense was unrelenting, causing 21 turnovers with Maggie Hanzsche leading the way with a career-high seven caused turnovers and five groundballs. Megan Jackson followed with four caused turnovers and four groundballs.

Marino paced the offense with three goals, followed by Hughes with two. Cote notched two assists and a score on the day.

Julia McKay (3-1) earned the win after turning away three shots while Hannah Ashby (4-1) took the loss after an eight-save effort.
