Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall overcame an early deficit with three unanswered to rally past Swarthmore 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) play. The Diplomats evened their season record to 6-6, 2-4 CC, while the Garnet dropped to 9-4, 3-3 CC.
The Diplomats fell behind just 8:40 into the match, as a loose ball in the circle was knocked home for an early 1-0 Garnet advantage.
F&M answered back with two of their own with a quick flurry in the second quarter. Carolina Riley took hold of a Kat Study rip from inside the circle and punched it in herself to tie the game at 26:23. Lauren Mumby then lofted in a Darby Klopp feed just 1:12 later for a 2-1 halftime advantage.
Jessica Miller added an insurance goal at the 37:42 mark, slotting home a pass from Carolina Riley for a 3-1 final.
F&M led 17-10 in shots, while Swarthmore held an 8-6 edge in penalty corners.
Miller led the Diplomats with five shots, while Darby Klopp ended with three. Sophie Carroll, Kat Study and Carolina Riley each had a pair.
Sydney Lippe made three stops for her sixth victory of the season.
F&M continues its Centennial Conference stretch with a tough road match at No. 2 Johns Hopkins - meeting for the first time since the NCAA Final Four in 2019.
