Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. -- Sophie Carroll's second quarter goal was all the offense Franklin & Marshall needed in a 1-0 road victory over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon. The win gave the Diplomats (7-7, 3-5 CC) a much needed boost in the CC playoff picture, giving them a tiebreaker advantage over the Owls (8-6, 3-5 CC).
Bryn Mawr came out with the hot hand early, as Alison McCarey made a defensive save just 5:54 into the game. Sydney Lippe was also called on to keep things deadlocked right at the end of the quarter, making a save then forcing a high shot as time expired.
Sophie Carroll gave the Diplomats a boost at the 16:19 mark, making good on a Kat Study's feed from a penalty corner for the 1-0 advantage.
F&M had a flurry of opportunities in the fourth corner, racking up five penalty corners and three shots in just 1:05. Darby Klopp was denied twice, while Carroll had an attempt turned aside on a defensive save.
