Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. -- Jessica Miller's second quarter goal was enough for Franklin & Marshall as the Diplomats blanked McDaniel 1-0 in a Centennial Conference (CC) matchup on Saturday evening. The Diplomats finished off the season 9-7, 5-5 CC, while McDaniel fell to 3-14, 1-9 CC.
Prior to the contest, the Diplomats honored four graduating seniors during Senior Day: Erin Corrigan, Savannah Familo, Kat Horsley, and Sydney Wieczkowski.
The contest started off slowly as neither team attempted a shot in the first quarter.
Darby Klopp ended that dry spell just 16 seconds into the second quarter, attempting a drifter toward the net that was denied.
It was then Miller's goal about five minutes later at the 20:10 minute mark that ended up being the game-winning shot for the Diplomats. A soft-leaner from
Darby Klopp toward Miller assisted the first-year forward to her sixth goal of the season.
Overall, F&M's defense held McDaniel to two shots as the Diplomats led that 14-2 in that category, including a 9-1 edge in the second half.
Erin Corrigan led in shot attempts with four, while
Darby Klopp ventured out three.
F&M additionally had full command of penalty corners, leading 6-1, including five in the second half.
Sydney Lippe (9-7) only faced one shot on frame in her third straight shutout victory.
