LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall volleyball team continued its domination inside the Mayser Center with a sweep of Washington College on Saturday (25-12, 25-14, 25-12). The Diplomats (11-5, 3-1 CC) improved to 6-0 on their home court this fall with the resounding victory over the Shorewomen.

F&M just built on its momentum throughout the match, hitting for a higher average in each successive game. That performance was highlighted by a .381 hitting percentage during the middle set before closing out the day with a .478 average during the final game. The attack came from all directions as four different players record at least five kills. Allison Franke led those efforts with seven, while Nicole Carey, Sydney Levins, and Lauren Arnold also reached that mark. Hannah McCarthy led the team with 16 assists, while Annmarie Earley added four more helpers. Carly Bozzo and Meredith Mangum both reached double figures in digs with 15 and 12, respectively.

The first set was broken open early as Franke stepped to the service line with the match tied at two. By the time the Shorewomen got a side out, the Diplomats were rolling to a 12-2 advantage as that run featured four service aces. F&M capped the convincing first game with eight of the final nine points.

F&M's big run of the second came after WAC tied the game at six-all. The Diplomats scored 16 of the next 20 points, highlighted by Arnold securing six consecutive service points. The hosts continued to leave no doubt in the third as they scored the first five points before closing the afternoon on an 11-3 run that was capped by Earley's service ace. F&M registered 10 service aces in total, featuring four from both Franke and Earley. The Diplomats also blocked six attacks from the Shorewomen as Jada West led those efforts with three block assists.

Volleyball will have another midweek Centennial Conference trip this upcoming week as it travels to Dickinson for a 7 p.m. first serve in Carlisle. F&M will get to play in front of a TrueBlue Weekend crowd next Saturday when the team welcomes Swarthmore (12 p.m.) and Scranton (4 p.m.) to campus for a tri-match.
