Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall dominated McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon, rolling by a 35-0 final at Shadek Stadium. With the win, the Diplomats picked up their first win of the 2021 campaign (1-2, 1-1 CC), while the Green Terror (1-2, 1-1 CC) dropped their second.
First Quarter (F&M 0, McDaniel 0)
Neither side amounted much offensive firepower in the first quarter, combining for six drives, six punts, and 67 yards. Nearly half of those yards came from a 6 play, 33 yard drive by McDaniel to close the quarter.
Second Quarter (F&M 14, McDaniel 0)
F&M hit paydirt on its first drive of the second stanza, highlighted by two straight 30+ yard pass plays. The first saw Logan Clouse hit Jack O'Hearen for 32 yards, then the Diplomats pulled from the back of the playbook as Clouse lateralled to Danny Solecki, who tossed it to O'Hearen for a 36 yard touchdown.
After the Diplomats held McDaniel to a three-and-out on the ensuing drive, Ryan McArthur broke through to block the punt attempt and give F&M possession just 23 yards from the endzone.
Three plays later, Logan Clouse hit a streaking Will Higson from 13 yards for a 14-0 edge.
Third Quarter (F&M 28, McDaniel 0)
Another three-and-out forced by F&M on the Green Terror's opening drive of the half gave the Diplomats excellent field position at their own 46 yard line. 11 plays and 6:20 later, Clouse found O'Hearen again from three yards away for a 21-0 lead.
F&M crossed the goalline again on its next drive, needing only six plays to go 86 yards. The big gainer was Jermaine Conyers breaking free for 36 yards, then calling his own number again just one play later from five yards out for a 28-0 advantage.
Fourth Quarter (F&M 35, McDaniel 0)
F&M added an insurance touchdown on a 14 play, 80 yard drive that drained 8:21 off the clock in the middle of the quarter. The pairing of Conyers and Keshon Farmer did most of the heavy lifting, as Farmer punched it in from seven yards out for the 35-0 final.
Notable F&M Stats
Logan Clouse went 19-29 for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Danny Solecki completed one pass for 36 yards and a score.
Jermaine Conyers led the team in rushing with 77 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Keshon Farmer was the bellcow with 24 rushes for 61 yards and a score.
Jack O'Hearen led the team in receptions with eight for 109 yards and two TDs. Will Higson and Trey Glass each had four catches, with Higson hitting paydirt.
Calvin Krippner led the DIplomats with seven tackles, three of the solo variety. Thomas Downs, Peter Orio, Dan DiBeneditto, Colin Lavigne, and Tom Papa all finished with four tackles. Orio tallied the only sack of the day for the Diplomats. Downs finished with the lone interception for F&M. Six Diplomats recorded tackles for loss.
F&M had 25 first downs compared to McDaniel's four, running up 354 yards of offense in the process. The DIplomats also led in time of possession 35:10 to 24:50.
