Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall (3-2) outlasted Lebanon Valley (1-5) by a final score of 3-0 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Tylus Field. Darby Klopp netted what became the game-winner in the first quarter, while Jessica Miller scored her first two collegiate goals just 23 seconds apart in the second.
Klopped scored at the 12:22 mark in the first quarter on the Diplomats' first shot of the day, and the only shot for either side in the period. A bit of a scrum in front of the net allowed the junior forward to pounce on her second goal of the year.
F&M's first penalty corner of the day paid dividends, as Kat Horsley's entry pass was corralled by Kat Study. Study's attempt on net was parried away, but right to the stick of Miller who punched in her first of the season.
The Diplomats wasted little time, as just 23 seconds later Carolina Riley slid a pass across the face of goal to a waiting Miller for the 3-0 advantage before halftime.
F&M ripped three shots in the third quarter, but none on frame. LVC had their best moments in the fourth quarter, forcing Sydney Lippe into action for the second time all game at the 51:47 mark and having their only two penalty corner opportunities just 15 seconds apart. The Diplomats withstood the rally to emerge with the 3-0 win.
Jessica Miller led the team with three of its seven shots.
Sydney Lippe made two stops for the shutout victory.
F&M is back in action tomorrow afternoon down in our nation's capital, facing Catholic University at 1:00pm.
