Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. -- Haley Barge and Sierra Brophy goals in each half gave Franklin & Marshall a 2-0 victory over Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Wednesday evening at Tylus Field. With the victory, the Diplomats improved to 6-0-1 (1-0-1 CC), while the Muhls dropped to 0-5-1 (0-2 CC) on the season.
The Diplomats outshot Muhlenberg 12-1 in the opening half, but didn't break through until that twelfth shot of the frame. Emily Cleary cut back in onto her right foot, lacing a through ball that seemed destined on its own to find twine. Instead, Haley Barge flew into the picture, nodding it past the Muhls' keeper for a 1-0 advantage with just 18 ticks left on the clock.
F&M added onto its lead in the 70th minute, as Sierra Brophy bagged her seventh goal of the season off an two-fer assist from Alison Francis and Meg O'Callahan.
With the win, the Diplomats became unbeaten in their first seven games to start a season for the first time in team history. Over that time frame, the team has conceded only once - also the best ever stretch for F&M across a seven game span.
The Diplomats outshot Muhlenberg 22-3, with Bri Skidmore leading the way with seven. Dahlia Pepe had four attempts on net, while Alison Francis was active in her second half appearance with three.
Sara Ghorashi made two stops for her fourth shutout of the season.
F&M now has a week of rest between games, hosting Hood College next Wednesday evening at Tylus Field beginning at 4:00pm.
