Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- No. 8 Franklin & Marshall fell on the road to No. 15 Ursinus in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon by a 6-0 final. With the loss, the Diplomats dropped to 4-3 (0-1 CC), while the Bears improved to 5-2 (1-0 CC).
F&M gave up two goals in the first quarter after being shellshocked by five Bears penalty corners and seven shots. The Diplomats had chances, as an early shot by Darby Klopp was turned aside, as were attempts by Jessica Miller and Katie Roper.
The Bears punched in two more in the second quarter, knocking one in on their first shot of the quarter, then following just 3:15 later with another for a 4-0 halftime edge.
A penalty corner just over ten minutes into the third led to a 5-0 advantage. Four minutes later, Ursinus netted its sixth and final tally of the game for the 6-0 final.
F&M was outshot 19-12 and had a 12-7 disadvantage in penalty corners.
Carolina Riley led the way with four shots for the Diplomats. Sidney Lippe made four stops in the cage.
The Diplomats have little time to regroup, with a home matchup against Gettysburg on the docket, set for this coming Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 7:00pm at Tylus Field.
