Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. -- After staking an early 1-0 lead, No. 14 Franklin & Marshall surrendered two goals in the fourth quarter to fall 2-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Wednesday evening at Tylus Field. The Diplomats fell to 4-4 (0-2 CC), while Gettysburg improved to 6-2 (2-0 CC).
Darby Klopp's netted F&M's lone goal at the 9:25 mark in the first quarter on a scrum in front of the net. The junior forward was able to poke it home for a 1-0 advantage.
That advantage stood until late in the fourth quarter. The Bullets knotted the game a one apiece with just 7:50 remaining. Just 3:40 later, Gettysburg punched in the go-ahead goal to snatch a 2-1 lead with just over four minutes remaining.
F&M were bested 13-11 on shot attempts and had a 8-6 deficit on penalty corners.
The Diplomats now have a week break to prepare for their next opponent - an away matchup at Haverford on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7:00pm.
