Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. -- Sophomore forward Sierra Brophy's hat trick and assist lifted Franklin & Marshall to victory in a 5-1 non-conference win over Elizabethtown on Wednesday afternoon. The win lifted the Diplomats to 3-0-0 on the season, while the Blue Jays fell to 0-3-0 to start.
Brophy started the party early in the 7th minute, slipping in behind the defense from a Meg O'Callahan through ball for a 1-0 lead.
Bri Skidmore extended the lead to 2-0 in the 14th minute on a give-and-go combination with Brophy that tracked into the box. Skidmore calmly slotted the ball home to double the advantage.
Elizabethtown pulled one back in the 21st, as an error deep in Diplomat territory allowed the Blue Jays to halve the lead back to 2-1.
Haley Barge pushed the F&M edge back to two goals in the 41st, pulling in another Meg O'Callahan through ball and punching it in from the right side for a 3-1 halftime lead.
Sierra Brophy answer the call again in the second half, netting one in the 53rd and tracking down a long ball over the top from Catie Kaseta in the 58th to seal the 5-1 final.
Brophy is the second Diplomat to record a hat trick since 1994 - Nicollette Runko '20 had the other on October 12, 2019 in a 4-1 win over Ursinus in Centennial Conference play.
Barge and Brophy each led F&M with five shots apiece, with Bri Skidmore launching four towards the net. The Diplomats led the Blue Jays 21-5 in shots and 6-2 in corner kicks on the day.
