SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall men's basketball dropped a 93-56 decision to No. 18 Swarthmore on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) action. The Diplomats (4-7, 1-3 CC) trailed by 30 at the half to the Garnet (11-1, 5-0 CC), as the home side scored 19 of the first 23 points of the contest.

Swarthmore jumped out to a 19-4 advantage and never looked back in the first half. The Diplomats closed to 11 twice on a pair of Mark Suchy jumpers, but a 19-3 run by the Garnet put them in the driver's seat at the 6:45 mark at 32-14. Swarthmore closed the half on a 17-5 tear to lead 49-19 at the break.

The closest F&M got in the second half was 26, as John Seidman ran off four straight points after the teams exchanged buckets to open the stanza to narrow the gap to 51-25. The nationally-ranked Garnet ran off another 18-3 run to go up by 41 with 8:40 remaining. The Garnet lead ran up to 43 at 76-33 with 7:14 to play. The Diplomats scored well down the stretch, rattling off 28 points in the final 8:16 of play.

Seven of F&M's 28 came from Travis Cumber, who scored a team-high 10 in his first start of the year. Josh Parra finished with eight points and eight boards, while Mark Suchy poured in seven points with eight rebounds off the bench. John Seidman also recorded eight points.

F&M shot just 32.2% (19-59) from the field, including 2-14 from deep. The Garnet were on fire all game long, shooting 50% from the field (30-60) and long range (12-24). Swarthmore also converted all 21 free throw attempts, while F&M finished 16-23 from the stripe.

The Diplomats get back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 6:00 p.m. with another CC road tilt against Washington College.
