Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (10-3, 6-0 CC), who is receiving votes in the National Poll, used two first quarter goals to push past Swarthmore (8-5, 3-3 CC) 3-1 in Saturday evening's Centennial Conference matchup.
Jessica Miller extended her scoring streak to four games as she got the Diplomats on the scoreboard first just four minutes into the game. Katie Roper picked up the assist on the play as she redirected a loose ball in front of the net to Miller for the score.
The Diplomats went up 2-0 in the contest after F&M earned a penalty corner. Sophie Carroll sent a pass over to Carolina Riley who sent a shot that was tipped into the net by Grace Fass for her third goal of the season.
F&M got its third goal of the game just eight minutes into the third quarter on an unassisted score from Carolina Riley after a penalty corner. Swarthmore tried clearing the ball away from danger, but Riley collected the clearing attempt and sent her shot into the bottom left corner of the net. It is the third multi-point game for Riley this season.
Sydney Lippe made five saves in the win. F&M outshot Swarthmore 23-10 in the game.
The Diplomats look to remain unbeaten in CC play as they host No. 6 Johns Hopkins Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
