Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall volleyball team (12-7, 5-1 CC) had its seven-match winning streak snapped in a 3-0 defeat at Swarthmore (12-7, 5-1 CC) Saturday afternoon. It is the first Centennial Conference loss for the Diplomats this season.
The Diplomats kept it close in the first set, thanks to a string of kills from Sydney Levins and Gianna Mangiamele to cut the score to a 23-21 Garnet lead, but Swarthmore able to maintain control to win the frame.
F&M held a 17-11 lead midway through the second set after a streak of kills from Jada West, Hannah McCarthy, and Coco Shultz. Levins also had two services aces during the run. Swarthmore once again ended the set with a strong offensive attack to go up 2-0 in the match. F&M was plagued by attack errors in the third set, as Swarthmore controlled the majority of the frame.
Levins tallied 11 kills, while Mangiamele finished with 10 in the match. Meredith Mangum had a team-high 16 digs in the contest.
F&M returns to Mayser Center Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. to face Johns Hopkins.
