LANCASTER, Pa.- The No. 18 Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (11-4, 7-1 CC) edged Bryn Mawr (12-3, 6-2 CC), who's receiving votes in the national poll, 3-2 Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats honored seven members of the field hockey team before the game for Senior Day.

The Diplomats got into the scoring column first with 3:21 left in the first quarter on a goal from Grace Fass. Fass received a feed from Sophie Carroll in front of the Bryn Mawr net and sent her shot through the goalkeeper's legs and into the cage. With the assist on the play, Carroll now leads the team in points with 16.

F&M cushioned the lead with a goal from Avery Niedland in the second quarter. The Diplomats earned one of their eight penalty corners of the match with 3:29 remaining in the second period. The ball was cycled around the arc to Amelia McCarthy who fired the ball towards the net. Niedland deflected the pass into the frame to score her first goal of the season.

The Diplomats notched a third goal early in the third quarter after Jessica Miller swiped the ball away from the Bryn Mawr defense in front of the Owls' net. Miller crossed a pass to Darby Klopp who buried the shot into the open part of the net.

Bryn Mawr pieced together two fourth quarter goals, but the deficit was too great to overcome as F&M held on to win.

F&M's offensive attack was on full display, tallying 21 shots with 13 on target in the game.

The No. 18 Diplomats now hit the road to play Muhlenberg Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
