Field Hockey Eases Past Haverford, 5-0

Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (7-3, 3-0 CC), who's receiving votes in the national poll, cruised to a 5-0 victory against Haverford (3-7, 1-3 CC) in Wednesday afternoon's Centennial Conference match.

Sophie Carroll led the F&M offense in the win, scoring two goals and adding an assist. Carroll found the back of the net two minutes into the second quarter and one minute into the third frame to reach five goals this fall. The midfielder also had a pass later in the third quarter that found Kat Study to set up Jessica Miller. Miller scored the Diplomats fifth goal of the contest, giving Study and Carroll assists on the play.

Keira Boensch scored the opening goal of the match just three minutes into the game for her fourth score of the year. Carolina Riley was also a goal-scorer in the game, burying a shot with one minute left in the first half.

Wednesday's game saw all three Franklin & Marshall goalkeeper's take a turn in net. Sydney Lippe started the game and only faced one shot on goal in her appearance, which she saved at the end of the first quarter. After the Diplomats took a 5-0 lead, Jorja Pastore came into the game for Lippe. Pastore immediately saw action as she made a save on a shot from a Haverford penalty corner. Like Lippe, Pastore only faced one shot on net. With 10 minutes remaining in the game, Sydney Kuehn made her third appearance of the season. Kuehn had the biggest save of the day for the Diplomats as she denied Haverford on a breakaway opportunity as time expired to complete the shutout.

F&M fired off 19 shots with 13 on target in the match.

Wednesday's contest was the Diplomats' largest margin of victory since their 5-0 win against Mary Washington in 2019, and largest margin of victory against a CC opponent since their 6-0 win against Washington College in 2018.

Franklin and Marshall will play CC foe Washington on the road Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
